Neighbors on Clearview Road called 911 about a possible fall victim, saying they heard screams around 4:15 p.m., East Brunswick Police Lt. Frank Sutter said.
Responders found the bodies of Bharat Patel, 62, his daughter-in-law, Nisha Patel, 33, and her 8-year-old daughter, who wasn't identified because of her age.
All had accidentally drowned in four feet of water, Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet and East Brunswick Police Chief Frank LoSacco said in a release issued Tuesday.
Responders pulled the victims from the water and administered CPR, to no avail, they said.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
